Star Wars: Infographic Shows Parallels Amongst ‘The Force Awakens’ and ‘Knights in the Old Republic’

When Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released into theaters in 2015, a whole lot was produced of your film’s structural similarities for the 1st Star Wars film, A new Hope. Even so, fans may have missed a different Star Wars story with some SWTOR Credits similarities to the Force Awakens, and that is Star Wars: Knights with the Old Republic.

For those who are not familiar with the old Star Wars Expanded Universe, Knights from the Old Republic was a 2003 role-playing video game developed by BioWare. The game’s story took location 4000 year’s prior to the events with the Phantom Menace began the rise on the Galactic Empire, in the course of an era when each Jedi and Sith had been plentiful, using the former group deemed protectors on the Republic as well as the latter ruling a separate empire.

As for the actual plot on the game, Reddit user the-jedi-apprentice has drawn up an infographic detailing the similarities involving the story of Knights in the Republic and that on the Force Awakens.

Each stories involve “a british girl fighting using a extended stick” (Rey from the Force Awakens plus the Jedi Bastila Shan in Knights on the Old Republic) seeking for a map that “leads to an ancient power” (Luke Skywalker/the Star Forge) to defeat a “deformed pale dude” (Supreme Leader Snoke/Darth Malak), having a facility that gets power by draining a star (Starkiller base/the Star Forge again), using the assist of a Wookie (Chewbacca/Zaalbar), a pilot (Poe Dameron/Carth Onasi), and an “old man” (Han Solo/Jolee Bindo).

Whilst this may look compelling initially, it relies on only a surface-level reading of both texts and needs you to play quite loose with how every narrative fits with each other. The fact that the Star Forge has to fill two areas in this infographic to force the comparison to function is pretty damning, and decreasing characters to such simplistic roles as “old man” and “a pilot” does no justice to how diverse these characters really are and how they buy SWTOR Credits play totally distinctive roles in their respective stories.
